Ko wai hoki? Who are we?

Employing whanau/hapu: More than 85% of the nursery’s employee’s whakapapa to Te Uri o Hau. The nursery currently employs six full-time staff and up to six casual staff. All the managerial oversight and administration required is done at Te Uri o Hau’s (TUOH) office in Whangarei. For TUOH to achieve its social, economic, environmental, and cultural aspirations, the nursery is looking to scale up in order to grow and deliver more native plants and create further employment opportunities.


Kylie Teaupa (Missy)

Production Manager

If you visit NUoH Native Nursery, chances are high you’ll meet Missy, our beloved Production Manager. Her passion for plants, people, and the land is what makes her an invaluable member of our team and  comes with experience and personality to boot. Missy's connection to TUoH is through the Rangimarie - Oruawharo marae.


Kim Batistich

Nursery Hand

Kim has been a part of NUoH Native Nursery from the start, and plays a vital role in making sure our clients receive top-notch service. Her connection to TUoH is through the Rangimarie - Oruawharo marae. She enjoys working outdoors and is an asset to the team.


Jaiya Skipper

Nursery Hand and Health & Safety Officer

After adding Jaiya to the NUoH Native Nursery whanau, it really felt like our team took a giant leap forward. He is not only great at managing his own responsibilities, but serves as a great ambassador to our customers. His connection to TUoH is through the Otamatea marae.


William Ashby

Production Hand

William is one of our most recent team members to join the NUoH Native Nursery whanau. His bubbly warm energy is a delight in our nursery and his level of customer care exceeds expectations. William's connection to TUoH is through the Rangimarie - Oruawharo marae. His interest in seeing the overall progression from seed to plant maturity is what drove him to apply for the position.


Jordan Teaupa

Production Hand

Jordan came on board full-time with NUoH Native Nursery this year. He recently completed school and had been helping in the nursery during the term breaks for the previous 2 years. He loves to work outdoors and enjoys bonding and connecting with fellow co-workers. Jordan has a bright future ahead of him.


Andrew Havili

Production Hand

Andrew, originally from Tonga has been a part of the NUoH Native Nursery whanau since 2018. He is the very reason our clients are greeted with an aesthetically pleasing landscaped entrance to our nursery. Andrew, who dose not like weeds, enjoys being part of the team and helping out in all areas of the nursery production.
